Homemade faloodas are delicious and healthy dessert recipes. They are low in calories and fat and rich in nutrients. This is a very simple recipe that is perfect for parties and holidays.
Falooda is a popular Indian dessert that is traditionally served during festive occasions such as Christmas. And when Christmas is knocking at the door, you should not miss making the tastiest falooda.
Faloodas are typically made using milk and sugar, but I decided to adapt the recipe to suit my own taste buds. We have shared below the best homemade falooda recipe for you to make this Christmas.
1 cup milk
2 cups of water.
4 tablespoons sugar
3/4 teaspoon cardamom powder
1/2 teaspoon saffron threads
10 – 12 Sabja seeds
1 cup faloodasev
Ice cream or any flavor of your choice
Sugar Syrup: 1 cup sugar dissolved in 2 cups water
Rose Syrup: 3/4 cup sugar dissolved in 2/3 cup hot water
You can change the numbers based on your taste and interest.
In a saucepan, bring the milk and water to a boil over medium heat. Add the sugar and stir until completely dissolved. Remove from heat and add the cardamom powder and saffron threads. Cover and let stand for 15 minutes. Strain through cheesecloth into a clean container. Cool completely before using.
To prepare the falooda seva, soak the sabj seeds in cold water for at least 4 hours. Drain and rinse well. In a blender, combine the soaked Sabja seeds with about 1/2 cup water and blend until smooth. Set aside.
Add the faloodaseved to the cooled milk mixture and whisk vigorously for about 5 seconds. Pour into a serving glass or jar and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Serve chilled.
For the sugar syrup, dissolve the sugar in the water in a small pan over low heat. Cook for 10 minutes or until thickened slightly. Let cool completely before using. For the rose syrup, mix together equal parts sugar and water in a small bowl. Heat gently until the sugar dissolves. Let cool completely before use.
If you are making this for a party, keep in mind that it will take longer than usual to cook. If you’re having trouble getting the Sabja seeds to blend up properly, try adding some more water.
Also, if you want to serve this as an appetizer, don’t fill the glass all the way to the top. Instead, pour just enough to cover the bottom of the glass. This will help prevent the falooda from overflowing when you serve it.
