What is Gulab Jamun?

The List Of Ingredients Required
- 1 cup milk powder
- 1/4 cup flour
- 1/4 tsp baking powder
- 1 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)
- 3-4 tbsp milk
- oil or ghee for frying
- For syrup:
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2-3 green cardamom pods, crushed
- A few drops of rose water or 1/4 teaspoon of saffron strands (optional)
METHOD:
- In a blending bowl, blend milk powder, all-purpose flour and baking powder. blend well.
- Add ghee to the mixture and using your fingers, tickle into the dry components until the mix matches the breadcrumbs.
- Add 3-4 tbsp of milk to the mix and knead into a smooth, soft dough.
- Separate the dough into little equal-sized balls and roll them between your palms until soft.
- Heat oil or ghee in a deep frying pan on medium warmness.
- As soon as the oil or ghee grows hot, put the dough balls in the pan and fry them till they become golden brown.
- Now heat the sugar, water and cardamom pods in a saucepan over medium heat. Mix until the sugar disbands entirely
- Allow the syrup reach to a boil and then reduce the flame.
- Drop the fried balls in the syrup and let them absorb for at least 30 minutes or till they soak in the syrup and become smooth and absorbent.
- Optionally, add a few dots of rose water or saffron to the syrup for added flavour and scent.
